Masonry Cement is combined of finely ground Portland Cement, sand and water to form the binding agent used by Masons. It is categorized in strength characteristics designated by the letter 'N', 'S' or 'M'. Type S is a higher strength Masonry Cement. When mixed with sand, Masonry Cement Type S produces mortar that exceeds ASTM C-270 specification for mortar which requires a minimum average 28-day compressive strength of 1800psi and 75% minimum water retention. Each bag of Masonry Cement mixed with 3 cu ft of sand will produce 3 cu ft of mortar. Materials required: clean water, sand:2 1/4-3 cubic feet loose damp masonry sand, watertight mechanical mixer, measuring pots, trowel, mortar board and safety clothing. Mix 1/2 water and 1/2 sand required to 1 bag of Masonry Type S followed by remaining amount of sand and sufficient water to bring mix to desired consistency. Mix for at least 5 minutes after all ingredients are in mixer. For best results, use measuring cups so that each batch mixed is the same consistency.

  • Excellent plasticity and water retention
  • Early strength for both summer and winter use
  • Low soluble alkali content
